Official Rules


1. RULES AND REGULATIONS: These rules are set forth and must be strictly followed by all contestants. The decision of the tournament director will be final in all matters. Any rule changes will be posted at registration.

2. PARTICIPATION AND ELIGIBILITY: Contestants must be members of The 2 of Us (annual membership $30 per year). A "Couple" must consist of one male and one female who fish together as a team from the same boat. No more than two (2) qualifying events may be fished entered by only one member of the same team, provided they join for the first tournament. If the couple joins after tournament two (2) has been fished, they may only one event alone. Any couple joining The 2 of Us after the third tournament has been fished will not be allowed to fish any events alone. Before any member of a team may fish alone, they must first have fished one event with The 2 of Us as a couple to establish their eligibility as a couple ,or they must pay the entry for two (2) tournaments, and they must fish the next tournament , and sign the entry form, with all information.  The 2 of Us reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone who has be previously disqualified from any fishing tournament for a serious rule violation, such as cheating. Contestants under the age of 18 must have the signature of their parent or guardian to compete.

3. SPORTSMANSHIP: Any contestant who displays poor sportsmanship, violates tournament rules, or state and local game laws will be disqualified without refund or recourse.

4. ALCOHOL/DRUGS: Contestants will abstain from consuming alcoholic beverages until after tournament hours, and polygraph tests are finished. No drugs except prescription allowed; please notify official immediately if you are taking prescription drugs.

5. BOATS/MOTORS/SAFETY: There is no horsepower minimum or maximum, however motor cannot exceed BIA rating for the boat on which it is used. No trolling with the big motor. Each contestant is required to have on zipped or fastened a Coast guard approved life preserver any time big motor is running. Driver must have the kill switch hooked up while running the big motor.

6.TACKLE: Only artificial lures may be used, the only exception is pork rinds. Only one rod may be used at one time, though others may be rigged and ready in the boat, but each cast must be completed before another is made.

7. PROTESTS/POLYGRAPH: All protests must be submitted in writing within 15  minutes of the final flight. State Boat Registration numbers of the offenders must be on the protest. Both parties involved are subject to polygraph test. Failure to submit to and/or clear polygraph will result in disqualification of that team for that competition.

8.FISH LENGTH/LIMITS: Each couple may weigh in five fish per day, minimum length 14 inches (unless the lake length varies from the statewide), measured on a flat board, mouth closed, tail compressed. No pooling of fish between boats. Only largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass will be weighed. Dead fish penalty is 1/4 pound (4 ounce) per dead fish. Penalty will apply to total weight only. No more than five fish can be brought to the scales. A sixth fish may be held temporarily in the livewell, for culling purposes only.Fishing cannot be resumed until culling is completed. There is no penalty for short fish, but the short fish will not be weighed. Official board is the Pro Rule. Ladies Big Bass must be marked with a cull ring, clip, etc. Unmarked fish will not be considered for ladies' big bass award.

9. PERMITTED FISHING WATER: No tube or wade fishing. No fishing within fifty yards of a boat that is anchored or tied (trolling motor in the up position) without the permission of the occupants. It is required that contestants show courtesy and respect to other anglers on the lake.

10. FISHING HOURS/PRACTICE/GUIDES:
Official start time will be announced at registration. Contestants should check in whether they catch fish or not for safety. Contestants will leave from and return to official check point by the times listed on their ticket. Trailering is allowed as long as couple gets a livewell check, and a couple may not leave until their start number is called. Any couple returning to the check in point late will not be allowed to weigh their fish, but will receive 25 show points for competing. Couples may practice anytime, as there is no off limits for the tournament, as long as the couple is off the lake by 9:00 pm the day preceding the tournament. Anyone who has accepted pay for guide service on tournament lake within the last 12 months, must pay two (2) entries in advance (for the current tournament and the next month's event).

11. LIVEWELL: An adequate, working livewell is mandatory. All contestants are urged to use catch and release formula in their livewell. All live releasable fish will be returned to the lake.

NOTE: ALL TEAMS MUST COME TO REGISTRATION TO DRAW FOR WEIGH TIMES!

TOURNAMENT ENTRY FEE IS $70 IF MAILED BY MONDAY PRECEDING THE EVENT; $80 IF PAID AFTER THIS TIME.
